
Infrared bathroom heaters are great because they warm you up almost instantly. But there’s a catch: the light. When we’re designing these for rooms where babies are around, we can’t just throw a standard heat lamp in there. The harsh blue light and that blinding glare are way too much for a newborn’s developing eyes. It’s stressful for them, and frankly, it’s not a great way to start a bath. So, we tweaked the hardware. We messed around with the quartz glass and the chemistry of the filament itself. A basic lamp just blasts everything at once. Ours uses a special filtered quartz—basically a shield—that blocks out those high-frequency visible lights but lets the heat-carrying waves sail right through. The result? You get a soft, warm glow instead of a flashlight in your face. You feel the heat, but you don’t have to squint. Now, there is a bit of a trade-off here. When you filter out the light, you lose a tiny bit of energy. To fix that, we optimized the voltage and the length of the filament. It means you still get that immediate “ahhh” feeling on your skin without needing a light that’s blindingly bright. Just a couple of things to keep in mind when you’re putting these in. **Watch your ceiling height.**If you tuck the unit too close to a low ceiling, heat gets trapped in the housing. Over time, that can actually eat away at the filter coating. Give the fixture some breathing room so it doesn’t overheat. **Keep the power steady.**These lamps don’t love voltage spikes. A big surge can pop the filament or, worse, crack that specialized quartz glass. If the glass cracks, you lose that eye protection we talked about. And one last thing: keep the glass clean. It sounds simple, but dust buildup creates “hot spots” on the tube, and that’s usually how these things burn out early. A quick wipe-down every now and then keeps everything running smooth.
