
What Makes This Patio Heater Actually Work
Here’s the heart of the design: we built this infrared patio heater around a high-intensity halogen lamp. It doesn’t push out warm air. It sends out targeted heat—the kind that lands right where you need it. The standard setup runs on 230V or 400V, pulling 2500W. That wattage is what gives you enough radiant energy to make an outdoor space feel genuinely comfortable. The tube is about 300mm long, so it fits into tight mounting spots without giving up output. High voltage means we can pack serious wattage into a small package, so you get a lot of heat density from a compact footprint.
The Materials Behind the Warmth
The core is a quartz tube, filled with halogen, and finished with a reflective coating. That coating does two things: it directs infrared heat forward and keeps stray heat from wasting energy or cooking nearby parts. The ends use an R7s connector—an industrial standard that handles high current and makes the lamp a simple, drop-in replacement. And the halogen chemistry helps keep the filament life solid, so output stays consistent as the lamp ages.
Where It Shines—and What to Keep in Mind
This heater was made for real-world spots: outdoor patios, workshops, and temporary workstations where direct radiant heat is the only practical way to get warm. It heats people and objects directly, so you’re not wasting energy trying to warm the air around you. That said, there are trade-offs. 2500W means you need a robust circuit. And because the heat density is high, your mounting location and nearby materials have to handle the radiant flux. We built it for outdoor duty, but you still need proper shielding, clearance, and a plan for thermal management. Do that, and the heat lands where you want it—quiet, focused, and ready.
