
Making Bathroom Heaters That Won’t Hurt Your Eyes
When we design infrared lamps for the bathroom, we’re basically trying to solve a tricky problem. You want that instant, cozy warmth the second you step out of the shower, but you can’t have a light so bright it blinds you—especially when you’re bathing a baby. It’s a delicate balance between getting the heat right and keeping eyes safe. The glare problem Most standard short-wave lamps put out a blinding white light. It’s harsh. It’s stressful. And for a baby’s sensitive eyes, it’s just too much. To fix this, we use special coatings and filtered quartz glass. Think of it like a pair of sunglasses for the heater. These filters block out the blinding visible light and the nasty UV rays, but they let the actual heat pass through. Instead of a harsh glare, you get a soft, dim glow. It’s much easier on the eyes and doesn’t trigger that “squint” reflex. Give it some breathing room Here’s a tip on installation: don’t jam the heater right up against the ceiling. If there’s no gap, you’re basically creating a heat trap. The quartz tube will get way too hot, and before you know it, the lamp burns out. We leave a bit of space so air can actually move around the fixture. It keeps things cool and makes the lamp last a lot longer. Warmth without the “sting” There’s always a trade-off with power. Sure, a high-wattage lamp heats up fast, but it can create “hot spots” that feel like they’re stinging your skin. Nobody wants that. We handle this by tweaking the reflectors. By widening the beam, we spread the heat out. You lose a bit of that intense, industrial-strength “punch,” but you get a cozy, uniform warmth instead. It feels more like a gentle hug and less like a heat lamp at a buffet. Just make sure you plan for that spread when you install it, so the warmth hits exactly where you want it.
