How the heat actually works
Mold loves two things: dampness and still air. Standard heaters just warm up the air, which usually just pushes the humidity around the room. Infrared is different. It doesn’t wait for the air to get warm. Instead, the energy hits your tiles, walls, and ceiling directly. It basically “blasts” the water droplets off the surface. When your walls stay dry, fungal spores have nowhere to live. Simple as that.
The nitty-gritty on safety
Water and electricity are a nightmare pairing. That’s why we stick to IP65 standards. In plain English? The housing is sealed tight against dust and water jets. We wrap the heating element in high-purity quartz glass. This keeps the filament from burning out or reacting with the moisture in the air, so the unit actually lasts. One heads-up, though: these quartz lamps gethot. Really hot. If you mount them too close to plastic fixtures or cheap PVC pipes, you’re going to warp them. Just make sure your brackets give the unit plenty of breathing room so the heat doesn’t get trapped.
A few things to keep in mind
Infrared is incredibly fast. You flip a switch, and you feel the heat instantly. But remember, it’s a “line-of-sight” technology. If something is blocking the light—like a shower curtain or a big vanity—that spot is going to stay damp. To really get the room dry, position the lamps to hit the areas where condensation piles up the most. And honestly? Pair it with a basic exhaust fan. The heater evaporates the water, and the fan kicks it out of the house. That’s the winning combo.
